Arel cast Frizz. It smacked a Slime right in the kisser. The super small explosion sent by the sizzling fireball also singed a second Slime.\n\nArel had killed one Slime, and injured another. It seemed the third one had fled.\n\nHe ran towards the second slime, stick in hand. He heaved it over his head, and smashed the Slime. Arel was victorious.\n\nThat battle was just like all the other fights that Arel had with Slimes. It was, perhaps, even easier to him than other fights. Arel was growing more experienced by the day.\n\nAnd with that experience, he grew up to defeat fiends of unfathomable strength. From the multi-headed dragon, Orochi, to the Archfiend Baramos, and even the supposedly invincible Zoma. Each and every one of them fell prey to the legendary hero, Erdrick.\n\nThe End
And so, Arel went home, thus ending his adventure. At least, for now...\n\nThe End.
Arel asked the guard of any new events in the castle. Apparently, the guards were having a competition, to see who could become the next captain of the guard. Of course, Arel, whom was not a guard, was ineligible.\n\nHowever, as Arel was the son of a great hero, the guard told him that if he can best him in combat, he'll let him take over his duty as guard for the day.\n\nArel declined, as he knew that, since he had no actual weapon, he would surely lose. \n\nAnd Arel always regretted that decision, even after he took on the title of Erdrick. He always wondered what life would be like had he dueled the guard. Arel wanted fame earlier than he achieved it. If a child could best all the castle's guards, he would surely go on to become the King's personal bodyguard. \n\nYet, Arel was happy with his life. He knew that he would leave a legacy of heroes as his descendants.\n\nThe End
Arel decided to leave town for a bit. Perhaps wandering the nearby grasslands would ease his boredom. Arel wanted to walk out farther than usual that night. He also knew that his mother would disapprove.\n\nAfter wandering for about an hour, he...\n\n[[Went home]]\n[[Ventured out further]]
Arel alerted the guard to the supposed presence of monsters. Apparently, he did not hear anything of the rumour. He took Arel to the watchtower to try and spot the monsters. Nearly being night, it was hard to see very far.\n\nWhile they searched, they found...\n\n[[Three Slimes]]\n[[A cosplaying hobo]]
Arel thought it would be a good idea to continue onward.\n\nHe encountered a group of Slimes. He thought it was no big deal, as he had fought them before, and in bigger numbers.\n\nNow, he had a little bit of equipment: a stick made of cypress, a couple of medicinal herbs, and some durable clothing. Best of all, however, he had his fighting knowledge. He aspired to become a hero one day, like his Dad, Ortega. Arel was trained a bit by Ortega, before he died. After that, he honed his skills by training with the town guards.\n\nFurthermore, he was gifted in magic, knowing how to cast a ball of fire at his enemies, and heal minor wounds. He could only cast one spell at a time, before he was magically drained. however.\n\nHe stepped toward the slimes. There were three of them. \n\nHe decided to attack with...\n\n[[Frizz, the fireball]]\n[[His cypress stick]]\n
The guards had already slain the king of Slimes. Arel was glad that the village was not under any further threat, but he also felt upset that he could not help them take down the Slime. This was worsened by the fact that the guards were being celebrated as heroes. \n\nThat night, the whole town had a banquet in their honour. From Peasants, to Merchants, and even the King. Everyone in Aliahan was there.\n\nAfter the banquet, Arel decided to go back to his house. He felt rather depressed the next few days.\n\nAfter all, he could've been a hero.\n\nThe End
Well then, you're missing out. Perhaps I'll tell you another time...\n\nThe End
Arel gripped his Cypress stick in both hands. He ran towards one of the Slimes, and smashed it into the ground.\n\nHe continued to fight the slimes with wide swings, and occasional thrusts. A Slime jumped at him, but Arel swiped it away. After fighting for a few more minutes, Arel emerged victorious.\n\nArel then decided to go home, and go to bed, feeling exhausted from the fight.\n\nThe next several months would be like this, all until his sixteenth birthday...\n\nThe End\n\n
...But the Hobo passed out before Arel could do anything.\n\nWith the threat neutralized, Arel went home, and rested for the night. \n\nThe next morning, Arel awoke to find...\n\n[[The cosplaying hobo, standing above his bed]]\n[[A beautiful day]]\n[[The town was under attack]]
So, how did you like my first Text Adventure? The next one I make is going to be a bit more complicated. Have suggestions for my next adventure? E-mail me at ryangroovy@yahoo.com.\n\nSo, being a huge Dragon Quest fan, I thought the legendary hero from the first three games needed a bit more backstory. I pretty much just used my memory, and what little info on him was available on the DQ Wiki.\n\nAt the time of writing this, I was 16 years old. I've always had an interest in writing. I've also always enjoyed cosplaying and making obscure references, as seen with the cosplaying Hobo.\n\nSo yeah, that's about it.\n\nWanna read it again, or clicked on my name on accident? Just follow this link:\n\n[[Start]]
The cosplaying hobo from the night before was standing by his bed! However, he was not in his Cardboard Gear. Arel tried to jump out of bed, only to find he was feeling weighed down, for he was wearing the Cardboard Gear! The hobo then revealed that he was sorry for threatening to burn down the town earlier. He admitted that he drank about six too many.\n\nAs compensation, he bestowed upon Arel his armour. Of course, Arel only wore it for a short time before it got hacked to pieces, but he did enjoy it while it lasted. It was his first suit of armour, after all. \n\nArel and the hobo then went on a few adventures together. On the last of these adventures, the hobo disappeared into thin air. The hobo lived on to become a king. He turned out to be the king who sent Arel's descendant on his quest to defeat the Dragonlord. \n\nHow he lived for so long, no one knows... Well, I do. But that's a story for another day.\n\nThe End\n\n
Perhaps you are familiar with the tale of a hero named Erdrick. He was truly a great hero. He defeated the Archfiend Baramos, after all. He even saved the world from Zoma. Furthermore, he did all of these heroic deeds when he was only sixteen! However, most people, even historians, are not aware of his beginnings. Even less people are aware of his birth name, Arel.\n\nThis is, some might say, Arel's origin story.\n\nShall we begin the tale?\n\n[[Yes]]\n[[No]]\n
Arel and the guard spotted a cosplaying hobo, stumbling toward the town. He seemed to have been drinking heavily.\n\nHe stumbled into town, and you confronted him, as the guard watched.\n\nHe was wearing a suit of armour, which he referred to as "Cardboard Gear."\n\nThe hobo was shouting about how solid his armour was, and went on about some adhesive he apparantly sniffed.\n\nHe then threatened to burn down the town.\n\nArel wanted to...\n\n[[Slap him|Duel]]\n[[Duel]]
Youth of Erdrick
Arel chose to chat up the townspeople. \n\nHe first talked to a young man, about his age. He said that there's rumours of a horde of monsters coming to raid the town. Thankfully, Arel had a stick made of cypress, so he had something to protect himself with, in case the rumours turned out to be true. In addition, he knew how to cast a healing spell that helped with minor pain and wounds, and could even cast a ball of fire.\n\nThe next person he talked to was a castle guard. He sometimes trained with the guards, so most of them knew who he was. \n\nArel...\n\n[[Informed the guard of the rumour]]\n[[Asked about any happenings in the castle ]]\n\n
Arel encountered a group of Slimes. He thought it was no big deal, as he had fought them before, and in bigger numbers. Unfortunately, the guard was rather a coward, and ran back to the castle, only to pretend like he didn't see anything.\n\nArel stepped toward the slimes. \n\nHe decided to attack with...\n\n[[Frizz, the fireball]]\n[[His cypress stick]]

Arel was wandering his hometown, Aliahan. Aliahan was a small castle-town, with only a few shops, a couple of houses, and a bar, which was still being built at the time. The castle overlooking the town, however, was absolutely gigantic, perhaps even the biggest castle in the world.\n\nIt was almost dark, with only a slight amount of sunlight lingering the town. Arel, being an adventurous fourteen year old boy, was looking for something interesting to do.\n\nArel decided to...\n\n[[Leave town]]\n[[Talk to the townspeople]]\n\n\n
Arel awoke to find the town was under attack! There was a dead guard outside, with a few more fighting a monster. The monster was a large Slime, with a crown atop its... head.\n\nWhen Arel made it to the Slime, the guards...\n\n[[Had already defeated it]]\nWere exhausted
And so, Arel awoke to find the most beautiful sunrise he had ever laid eyes upon. \n\nHe surely remembered the previous night as one of the strangest he had ever experienced. \n\nThe End
